Archaeology of Presence explores the transformation of the body from physical object to digital identity.
Photogrammetry, which reconstructs 3D models from photographs, sits at the center of the work. Its logic traces back to Bertillon’s practices in the 1850s, when standardized images were first used to classify and identify human bodies. That same paradigm is the foundation of contemporary facial recognition systems.
The project enters this continuity to sabotage it. Where the machine is meant to standardize, here it fails: bodies scatter, corrupt, glitch. Like an archaeologist excavating ruins, the work uncovers what remains after bodies encounter algorithms: evidence of a presence the machine tried to capture but couldn’t fully contain.
